When you are running a food empire like EatClub Brands (Box8 & Mojo Pizza), freshness is everything. A single freezer failure can lead to massive inventory loss overnight.
They approached us with a critical problem: "We have hundreds of cold storage assets across multiple cities. We need to know exactly when a freezer goes down, instantly."
Standard industrial PLCs were too expensive and clunky for this scale. They needed a custom, agile solution. That’s how TempSense was born.
The Challenge: Critical Cold Chain Monitoring
Monitoring food storage isn't just about reading a number. It's about reliability.
The device had to work inside deep freezers where Wi-Fi signals are weak, survive near vibrating compressor motors, and handle the humidity of a commercial kitchen environment. If the temperature rose above the safety threshold, the alert had to be immediate.
Engineering the Solution
1. The Hardware: Custom Industrial Controller
We engineered a proprietary controller board designed specifically for high-reliability environments. Unlike hobbyist boards, our system uses a dual-core industrial microcontroller capable of handling encrypted data transmission while simultaneously polling sensors without latency.
For the sensing element, we integrated calibrated industrial-grade waterproof probes encased in stainless steel. These ensure precision readings even in sub-zero conditions where standard sensors would freeze or drift.
2. Rugged IP65 Enclosure
As seen in the photo, the device is housed in a transparent, IP65-rated polycarbonate enclosure. We utilized industrial sealing mechanisms to secure the sensor entry points. This ensures that condensation from the cold storage environment never touches the internal electronics.
3. Fail-Safe Power Architecture
Kitchen power supplies can be unstable with frequent voltage spikes. We designed a custom power management circuit featuring multi-stage surge protection and advanced filtration.
This "Hardware Firewall" ensures that external electrical noise from heavy compressors does not crash the system, guaranteeing 24/7 uptime.
The Result: Zero Spoilage
We deployed these units across their network, connected to a central dashboard (visible in the background).
- Real-Time Tracking: Every freezer's temperature is logged continuously.
- Instant WhatsApp Alerts: If a freezer door is left open or a compressor fails, the area manager gets a message instantly.
- Cost Savings: The system paid for itself in the first month by preventing inventory loss.
